What’s Happening in the Studio
What is happening in the studio since last I posted? Well, I was quilting on another quilt from my sewing group. I’m not sure who pieced the top, but I am quilting this beauty.
I liked the quilting scheme I started with, but being easily bored, I have since come to the conclusion that it was a bad idea. :-D
So it was easy for me to take this one out from the machine and put in my latest grand idea. I will let you see some of it, but the whole doesn’t look very impressive yet.
I used a Shiva Paintstick in iridescent charcoal to do the lettering. I have never before used paint sticks and I did like that there is no bleeding around the edges like there is with paints. The only downside is that there are limited colors and so I am not sure that when I want text on a quilt that I can go to this exclusively. I am almost done quilting around all of the letters, but am unsure what to do with the background. There will more on this later as it progresses.
I also started a smaller art piece that is in progress for the Monthly Art Project started by Brenda Gael Smith.
This is just the top and I anticipate having the quilting done and the facings on before the 15th. That may be optimistic. However I am not going to be put out if I am a day late. Or two! 🙂
And last, but not least, I did start a scrap log cabin variation donation quilt. Because you can (apparently) never have too many works in progress! Have a great week!
